LA 92 can certainly be watched passively (i.e. as just an assemblage of video clips and sound bites; as riot porn) but its Truth lies in its ability to become the guillotine to our notions of history and progress.

Certainly one of brightest albums out in 2017, Mike Hadreas brings his Perfume Genius project into new horizons which provide much love and light to such dark times.

Blond(e) maintains its integrity in large part to Frank Ocean’s own experiences but his reclusive and reserved demeanor generates a furtive lyricism that successfully oscillates between fact and fiction, universalizing the work and allowing listeners to find themselves within it.

The hazy malaise of a love yet to blossom carries on throughout the entirety of the album and some of the most beautiful moments occur either when everything slows down and gets more intimate or when everything becomes chaotic and reaches peak ferocity.
